Fresh Inspiration for Springtime

27 December 2020

While any fence that protects any property is suitable for humans, it is not necessarily the case for animals. Stock fencing is perfect for fencing off buildings, crops and pastures from wild animals. But it is also essential for farmers that need to fence off large areas where animals pasture. If you are such a farmer, consider using our stock fencing.

Why is stock fencing best for livestock?

Our stock fencing is exceptional in protecting farm animals. It is made out of durable and strong steel wires that are characterized by soft, smooth and pleasant to the touch structure. Due to its flexibility the mesh is distinguished by high resistance to various types of mechanical factors. It does not stretch, wear out or tear. Even long-term, intensive use does not affect the loss of its original properties and guarantees optimal elasticity for many years. Strong claws, sharp beaks or teeth will not break the durable structure of the mesh.

Stock fences that we offer not only protect animals from escaping or getting outside the designated area, but are also safe and do not expose animals to allergies, abrasions or other dangers. Made out of solid steel wires, they guarantee high quality, reliability and the highest aesthetic values. The mesh retains its structure, appearance and properties for many years, ensuring trouble-free service life.

At the same time, its construction is designed so that if an wild animal invades our territory, the mesh does not cause serious injuries. In order to minimize the possibility of harm to the animal, the stock fence must be selected according to the species of animals that most often occur in the area of interest.

Most of all, stock fencing is very easy to disassemble. You can move it around your property with no detriment to the elements of the whole construction. If you are a farmer interested in rotational grazing, it is a perfect fence for you.

You can find more information on how to choose a stock fence according to kinds of wild animals that appear near your property in this article on our blog.

A reliable fence for animal husbandry

The use of the highest quality galvanized steel for the construction of the mesh makes it highly resistant to external factors. It is resistant to changing weather conditions, mold, fungi and high humidity. Thanks to such high durability, the mesh will be perfect in conditions exposed to water, wind and UV radiation.

Long exposure to the sun does not deprive it of its durability and changing temperatures do not reduce its aesthetic value and do not adversely affect its structure.

The mesh can be used outdoors all year round, it does not require disassembly in periods of increased rain and snowfall or in hot weather and intense sunlight. It is easy and quick to install. It does not require additional impregnation treatments. Easily cleans.

Stock fencing in goat and sheep farming

Goats and sheep are medium sized animals that can be viewed by predators as an easy prey. Some of them may have horns. They are rather active – they like to jump and run around the area where they pasture. They are also strong for their size.

When choosing a stock fence for goats and sheep, look for a mesh with denser structure. If the mesh density is too low, the animals can get their heads easily stuck in the net and may hurt themselves as a result. Especially when baby goats and sheep appear in the herd.

For that application we recommend choosing stock fencing that is at least 1 meter high with higher density of the mesh throughout the whole fence.

That way the fence will not only prevent the animals from escaping but will also enable any predators from attacking the herd.

Perfect fence for pig farming

When choosing a fence for pig farming it is worth remembering that pigs have a tendency to dig around in the ground. They also grow quite big and can be very strong.

Stock fence will perfectly do its job in that application, but you have to have some things in mind:

  • Choose the steel posts over those made out of wood, they will provide more stability to the whole construction.
  • Additionally strengthen the corner posts to keep the fence strong
  • Choose a mesh with thicker wires, about 2,5 mm in diameter.
    • That way the pigs won’t have a chance to overturn the fence or break the wires.
  • If you need extra assurance, double the amount of posts.
    • It will prevent the pigs from digging under the fence.
  • While assembling the fence, try to keep it in a square shape.
    • That will make it more stable.

You can find stock fencing with thicker wires in our online store.

Strong fence for cattle

When thinking about buying a perfect fence for your cattle, think about the affordable and fuss-free stock fencing.

Cows and bulls are one of the strongest and biggest farm animals. They also have a tendency to push against the fence. That’s why, just like with pigs, it is worth using thicker wires – about 2,5 mm in diameter.

In that application you can either pick the strong steel posts or, if you care about the rustic look, ones made out of good quality sturdy wood.

It is also worth to reinforce the corner posts to prevent the fence from being overturn. If you want to make sure the fence is super stable, install more posts along the length of the fence.

Usage of stock fencing for horse farming

Horse breeding is a very difficult and demanding job, which must be supported by appropriate knowledge and equipment, like a strong and durable fence for pasture.

When choosing fencing for horses, the most important factor is the height of the fence and the diameter of the wires. The fence should be taller than the tallest horse in the herd – about 1,5 meters for taller breeds. It should also be made out of thick wires – about 2 mm in diameter.

The mesh should be dense enough, so that the horses can’t trap their hoofs or heads in it. Smooth wires are also essential if you don’t want your horse harming itself by rubbing against the fence. Fortunately our stock fencing is made out of very smooth galvanized wires that ensure the safety of any animal.

Stock fence in deer farming

Deer farming in the United Kingdom is becoming more and more popular. A durable and affordable fence and its installation is essential when starting a deer farm.

You need to remember that deer are more agile than most farm animals. They can jump even higher than horses. That’s why we recommend a fence about 2 meters tall for that application.

As for strong animals such as deer, slightly thicker wires should be used, about 2 mm thick.

The density of the mesh should be lower near the ground and gradually decrease upwards. This arrangement of the wires is to prevent predators from getting through.

The advantage of using our stock fencing is its exceptional flexibility. When a rushing deer falls into the fence, it springs back without causing injuries or scratches to the animal.

For this application you can either use wooden or steel posts.

As you can see stock fencing has many advantages. The galvanized wires do not need to be maintained or impregnated, and they do not have problems with rust. Due to the fact that the fence does not contain sharp elements, it is safe for all farm animals.
