Temporary fence – how to fence a property for the time of construction

Construction works usually take months or even years, so it is worth properly securing the plot on which they are carried out. A temporary fence will make it difficult for possible theft and access to unauthorized persons, reducing the risk of an accident. In this case, inexpensive and quick-to-install mesh fences are commonly used, which allow for the construction of the building to be secured in accordance with the regulations.

The first step is to mark the points where the border posts will be. This will allow you to designate the boundaries of the plot, on the basis of which a proper fence will be erected in the future. At this point, it is worth emphasizing that securing the construction site against unauthorized access is required by law. Installation of a mesh fence does not require a special permit or notification of this fact to the office only if its height does not exceed 2.20 m. However, it is not affected by whether it will run along a public road or between private properties. As for the requirements, the temporary fence should be placed on the plot, not on its border, and the height of the structure must be min. 1.5 m. On the other hand, large-scale plots do not have to be completely fenced, but you can focus only on the area where the investment is being carried out. It should be emphasized that barbed wire or other sharp ends that could endanger the health and even life of humans and animals must not be installed on fences with a height of less than 1.8 m.

How is the fence mesh installed?

If the fence is to be used only during the construction works, it is worth choosing a metal mesh. However, mesh fences can be successfully used as a permanent structure. In this case, galvanized, painted or coated mesh will be perfect. It should be emphasized that each type of mesh is easy to stretch and adjust to the unevenness of the terrain. In addition, when properly stretched, it is characterized by high resistance to deformation. Fence mesh assembly is most often carried out with the use of metal posts, which are durable and stable, which makes the work much easier. The net is attached to the posts with special eyelets that are easy to install. On the other hand, the reinforcing element is a wire that must be woven into the mesh and properly tensioned.

Mesh fences are among the most used on construction sites. They can be easily installed and quickly dismantled after the work is finished. Therefore, they constitute inexpensive and, at the same time, a solid protection of the construction site against the entry of undesirable persons and possible thefts.
